    Am I Eligible?

There are hundreds of eligible illnesses and impairments that may qualify for government compensation.

If you, your child, or a member of your family has a physical or mental condition that has lasted a minimum of 12 months, and this impairment makes it difficult to perform an ordinary activity of everyday life, then you may very well be eligible for an annual tax credit and/or monthly disability benefit.

Eligibility for DTC (tax credit) and CDB (monthly benefit) is based upon how you or your child is affected in one of the following activities of daily life.

    Walking

Do you or your child have pain that affects walking? Do you/they need to take breaks when walking in order to regain strength or catch your/ their breath?

    Dressing

Does it take longer for you/your child to get dressed due to limited mobility, pain, or stiffness? Do you/they require assistance from another person in order to get dressed?

    Feeding

Are you/ is your child restricted when eating or preparing food for yourself/themselves? Do you/they have arthritis or any other illness that makes eating  challenging?

    Hearing

Do you/does your child suffer from hearing loss and have to constantly ask people to repeat themselves? Do you/they rely on lip reading or sign language in order to understand other people?

    Speaking

Do you/does your child stutter or have a lisp? Are you/they seeing a speech-language pathologist for a speaking or voice disorder?

    Mental Functions

Do you/does your child have a psychological condition, such as Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, or Depression? Does this condition limit them from completing their daily tasks?

    Life-Sustaining Therapy

Do you/does your child use insulin to treat diabetes? Are you/they on dialysis or require oxygen or chest physiotherapy?

    Elimination

Do you find yourself/ your child going to the bathroom all the time? Or do you/they experience pain with elimination?

    How it Works

The Government of Canada offers compensation for eligible Canadians who suffer from mental and/or physical illnesses.

Our professional consultants manage the complex and extensive application process for you from beginning to successful resolution.

Once approved to the program, you will not only receive monthly benefits and/or annual tax credits, but you can also obtain a retroactive refund for a maximum of 10 years prior. This can result in up to a $40,000 tax-free payment from the government.

While the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is only given to eligible taxpayers, the Child Disability Benefit (CDB) is available for any family member who cares for a child (under the age of 18) with a physical or mental condition, even if they do not pay income taxes.
